Times Square- NY

He looks remotely through the glass window devoid of any anticipation. The last but one stop of the city tour bus and his last day in this city finally came. His eyes were wide as Ganges but blank as the cleanest of the black board you might have ever seen.   The whole humankind was in front of him. “Times Square- NY”, people say you could see people from all countries if you spend one hour here.  Ya true, in last three years he had witnessed more world here than anywhere else before.

Ten years back people used to ‘talk on phone’ while they walk busily, now a days they do surf, they chat while they go. Things have changed but one thing still unchanged, everyone is busy except Niket.  Before voyage back to India he wanted to see New York once more, more like a tourist so he took the City tour bus , and to his surprise it was fun. He discovered so many new places, things which were there but he never noticed them before while driving past. Just before leaving, his love for the city even grew bigger. Few more hours and he would be sitting in British Airlines flight for New Delhi via London.

The bus remained stopped longer due to the congestion at evening hours, but for past few years Niket never bothered about traffic, when people complains about it, he just smile and think the worst conditions he saw in India.

The big MacDonald’s sign on right looked different all of a sudden. It was there since ages but in front of it that sign appeared someone who was most unlikely to be there. For a second he couldn’t accept as true but when he moved closer to the window and looked carefully the slightest of doubt vanished. Her hair was kissing the air and like always she couldn’t manage her silky tresses with her left hand no matter how much she try, finally she put his phone in jacket pocket and tied her wild things and looked straight, the tour bus was still there.

Now it was her turn to get the shock, on the other side of the glass window was the guy looking at her with utmost shocker and blank eyes whom she considered dead for last four years.

Might be they were motion freezed but the traffic started moving slowly and ‘pictures as they thought each other’ started to budge in different directions. Soon they realized they were losing again.  The guy gets up to get down, but another guy down there came out from MacDonalds’s with a kid in his lap and handed over one ice cream cone to her while the kid jumped from his dad’s lap to moms. She looks away from the bus to the guy with ice cream. They smiled and get caught up in talks. Again her tresses revolted and started kissing the air, might be they longed the care of the guy in the bus. The girl looked at the bus again, tried to say something with her eyes.

“ Good Bye” was the most fitting expression the guy in bus could comprehend.  He surrendered himself to the seats of the moving bus. Ya, the journey back home would be tough now, but now he had one less work to do while back in India.

In his mind he did strike-out the only ‘to do’ thing “Finding Nikita”.

“We all make our choices in life, the hard thing to do is live with them.”
