That 39th one was best of them, I can’t forget her eyes yet” Abby says while his closed eyes try to recall her face. Smoke of cigarette circles up making a perfect atmosphere for such Devdas kind of thoughts.

He continues “Its been nearly two months and ten more girls but still her memories didn’t fade. She makes me to recall those few close moment I spent with her.”

“That C.R. Park girl you met last march?” Ronit enquired while taking the cigarette from Abby.

“Yes, the same girl” he said without opening his eyes. Still he was in deep thinking, any one could tell seeing him.

“Abby, she looked like a princess man. What is the problem then?” Ronit asks.

“Problem? My dad didn’t like her much, so my mom. ” A sign of weariness reflects in Abby’s face so his state of mind.

“Lets run away with her, I am with you man” suddenly Ronit spoke his mind out and sat straight like he was serious.

“What? have you gone mad ? Run away with her? , No way Man” Abby dismisses the topic.

Same Night – Abby’s Thought

Is it possible what Ronit said? Is it Practical? Running away with her, the 39th Girl.
Naa. what I am thinking. It can’t happen. Mom n dad won’t agree making her my ‘bahu’. Let’s forget this, Let’s hope the 50th one will be lucky for me.

Same time another set of Neurons inside his head were planning something else. Three more hours they fought with each other and at wee hours one set of neurons gave up against so called “Love”.

Next Morning was different. A blossom had taken birth inside Abby’s heart. He calls Ronit to meet and explains him what changed since they last met.

Abby had been a shy guy since childhood. Studious, well mannered, non smoker and of course not a drinker. He had all qualities that made him the good boy, in our words the mama’s boy. I pity his classmates and neighbour kids who might have cursed him for being the benchmark of perfection, for all the comparisons their parents would have done with Abby - Look Abby is so good, he stands first, he is so gentle so n so.

Now Abby is a month less than 30 and still unmarried, his bank balance grew many folds in last seven years so his status but he was untouched of many feelings, mostly soft.  The curse of all those fallen had already surfaced it seems.

In last seven months since he came back from Austarlia he met one less than fifty girls for marriage proposals which his parents choose for him but none of them took his heart away until he met Nidhi last march.

The proposal came from their side and he went to her home to meet with his family.
She looked fair, 5 feet 3 inches tall and no extra kilos but that was not why Abby should fall, he has meet some gorgeous girls before.
When she looked at him instantly something cracked. Her eyes generated so many wave which Abby’s receiver could hardly handle and as a result his heart failed.

Way back home he prayed god his parents decision to be in favour but alas ! that didn’t happen. His parents dismissed the proposal as a good match for Abby should have 2 inches more than her, of course in height.  By inches boys always think something else while height of heel comes first in a girl’s mind .

Being a good, well mannered, respectful mama’s boy Abby didn’t ask them to have a second thought but he couldn’t stop his heart thinking about her. He kept gazing the picture he saved from her online profile and continues meeting other girls. Obviously he didn’t like anyone else but he never gathered the courage to tell this to his parents.

Abby logs in to Facebook to see her picture few times a day. He didn’t dare to send her a friend request and continued to be happy seeing only her profile picture and reading some basic information again and again.

But today morning after calling Ronit when he logs in again to do the same ritual he notices something disturbing. Her status read “Engaged”.

Abby’s heart was taken away when he met her but only last night he felt something for the first time, something like first rain, a feeling that a normal guy and girl feel at sixteen or even less but  Abby had taken double the time.

Was the time worth?
